Job summary

Actalent seeks a Formulation Technician I in Eugene, OR to support manufacturing of diagnostic products. You will prepare reagents and lab solutions, operate UV-Vis spectrophotometers and pH meters, and maintain strict adherence to SOPs, quality systems, and safety.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in a related scientific field.
  • Experience preparing reagents, buffers, dyes, and solutions in production or lab settings.
  • Experience using lab instruments like spectrophotometers, pH meters, balances, and pipettes.
  • Experience performing aseptic technique in controlled environments.
  • Experience working in GMP/cGMP, GLP, ISO-regulated, cleanroom, or similar settings.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense reagents, buffers, dyes, and solutions with precise weighing, pipetting, dilution, mixing, and pH adjustment.
  • Operate lab equipment (UV-Vis, pH meters, balances, pipettes) per procedures.
  • Perform manufacturing activities using aseptic technique and approved SOPs.
  • Complete batch records and production documentation accurately and timely.
  • Maintain inventories of raw materials, WIP, and finished products.
  • Support filling, labeling, packaging, and processing activities as needed.
  • Monitor processes for quality or production concerns and take action.
  • Troubleshoot routine issues and escalate complex problems.

Job Description

The Formulation Technician I supports the manufacture of high-quality diagnostic and laboratory products in a controlled environment. This hands‑on role focuses on preparing reagents, buffers, dyes, and solutions while contributing to production, quality, and inventory activities. The position requires precise measurements and calculations, strict adherence to written procedures, and safe handling of biological and chemical materials. The successful candidate brings strong attention to detail, a process-oriented mindset, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and dispense biological reagents, dyes, buffers, and laboratory solutions using accurate weighing, pipetting, dilution, mixing, and pH adjustment techniques.
  • Operate laboratory equipment, including UV-Vis spectrophotometers, pH meters, balances, and pipettes, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform manufacturing activities using aseptic technique while adhering to approved procedures and safety requirements.
  • Complete batch records, production documentation, and other records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain inventories of raw materials, work-in-process materials, and finished products to support continuous production.
  • Support filling, labeling, packaging, and processing activities for finished products as needed.
  • Monitor processes to identify potential quality or production concerns and take appropriate action.
  • Troubleshoot routine manufacturing and laboratory issues and elevate complex concerns when appropriate.
  • Follow established safety, quality, and standard operating procedures at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with Manufacturing, Quality, and other functional teams to support overall business objectives.
  • Prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing production schedules while maintaining high quality standards.
Essential Skills
  • Experience preparing reagents, buffers, dyes, and laboratory solutions.
  • Accurate weighing, pipetting, dilution, mixing, and pH adjustment skills.
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment including UV-Vis spectrophotometers, pH meters, balances, and pipettes.
  • Experience following written procedures and completing documentation accurately.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and production recordkeeping.
  • Ability to work safely with biological and chemical materials.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, filling, labeling, packaging, or production activities.
  • Basic laboratory or manufacturing experience.
  • Basic math skills, including dilutions, concentrations, unit conversions, weights, and volumes.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures.

Work Environment

This role operates in a laboratory and controlled manufacturing environment focused on diagnostic and laboratory product formulation. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eugene, OR.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
