Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking an Equipment Operator in Springfield, MA, to safely operate multiple pieces of equipment at the Material Recovery Facility (MRF). The role involves loading, sorting, baling recycled materials, and ensuring safe, efficient operation in all weather and site conditions.

The position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and proactive communication with maintenance staff to minimize downtime and keep operations compliant with safety standards.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the US.
• Ability to work under various weather conditions.
• Team player with safety mindset.
• Prior experience operating heavy equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in maintenance of the Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
• Performs pre/post operation inspection of equipment per Casella safety standards and regulations.
• Monitors recycled materials for evidence of unacceptable or hazardous waste.
• Inspects equipment condition to minimize downtime and cleans wheels as needed.
• Operates equipment following safety and training protocols to keep the facility maintained.
• Provides technicians with detailed information about mechanical issues for timely repair.
• Participates in training and other learning opportunities and supports company values.
