Job summary

National Steel and Shipbuilding Com in San Diego seeks a Warehouse/ forklift operator to move and stack materials around the shipyard and aboard ships. You will operate forklifts, drive the vehicle, and ensure safe handling of cargo during loading, unloading, and staging activities.

The role requires following written instructions, maintaining safety standards, and passing required tests for licensing. All shifts are required, with a focus on reliability in a high-noise industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Requires prior forklift experience or training.
• Must be able to read and understand written (in English) and visual instructions.
• Must pass written and hands-on tests to receive required operator's license.
• Ability to read and understand material shipping documents.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift to push, pull, lift, stack or tier merchandise, equipment, or bulk materials.
• Drive truck and control movement of lifting equipment.
• Position forms or lifting platforms under loaded pallets, skids, or boxes.
• Unload and stack material by raising/lowering lift forks or platforms.
• Inspect forklift daily for mechanical and fluid deficiencies.
