Job summary

Americold Birmingham is seeking a Forklift Operator who under general supervision will ensure safe and accurate receipt, storage, and shipment of food products using sit-down and stand-up forklifts, high-reach forklifts, stand-up straddle trucks, walk behinds, and RF equipment.

The role emphasizes OSHA-compliant operation, timely loading/unloading, accurate inventory checks, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Three months of related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently load and unload freight using proper equipment to move products to storage throughout facility.
• Stack and store merchandise, pick and assemble orders, check freight for accuracy, damage, and infestation, and label, sort, wrap, pack, and repack as directed.
• Operate equipment in a safety-conscious manner per OSHA standards (forklifts, RF scanners, pallet jacks).
• Meet production standards while keeping a clean and orderly work environment.
• Perform inventory, cleaning, or forklift battery changes; may perform other duties as needed.
