Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Company in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Forklift Operator to load and unload materials, move them to storage, machines, and loading docks, and participate in cross training. You will complete quality tests, maintain a safe workspace, and assist with preventive maintenance, paperwork, and Health and Safety programs.

A high school diploma or GED and basic reading skills are required, with background check and drug screen. Overtime may be required depending on production needs.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Must read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Must have ability to perform intermediate arithmetic dealing with decimals, fractions, ratios, etc.
• Must pass basic reading test.
• Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screening
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to maintain good attendance.
• Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Load/Unload trailers in a safe manner
• Material grading
• Monitor bale weights
• Complete all appropriate paperwork
• Perform routine preventive maintenance
• Maintains a basic knowledge of operations and procedures in all production departments.
• Maintain safe and clean work environment
• Completes all assigned trainings.
• Active participant in the Health and Safety programs of WestRock
• Performs other job duties as needed.
