Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Forklift Operator to load and unload materials, move goods between storage, machines, and docks, and ensure safe forklift operation. The role requires basic driving competencies, attendance, and willingness to work overtime as needed.

Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, read and interpret safety rules and manuals, perform arithmetic, and pass background checks and drug screening.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.
• Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences and memos.
• Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Must have ability to perform intermediate arithmetic dealing with decimals, fractions, ratios, etc.
• Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screening
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to maintain good attendance.
• Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Load/Unload trailers in a safe manner
• Material grading
• Monitor bale weights
• Complete all appropriate paperwork
• Perform routine preventive maintenance
• Maintains a basic knowledge of operations and procedures in all production departments.
• Maintain safe and clean work environment
• Completes all assigned trainings.
• Active participant in the Health and Safety programs of WestRock
• Performs other job duties as needed.
