Job summary

Commercial Metals is seeking team-minded individuals to grade and inspect inbound material, identify metals, and maintain accurate records. The role emphasizes hazard prevention and safe handling of regulated materials while supporting inventory and processing workflows.

Ideal candidates will have basic education, be able to lift heavy loads, and work in variable weather conditions, with overtime as needed for operations. Training and advancement are available within a Fortune 500 company.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year working with heavy industrial environment preferred but not required.
  • Communicate effectively - oral and written
  • Possess a strong work ethic and practice safe working habits
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and steps
  • Must be able to work overtime, either planned or unplanned for emergency situations
  • Must be able and willing to cross train as required
  • Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions to include working in the heat and cold
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Perform the rigorous manual labor required by the trade and have a natural ability to work at high elevations
  • Have a good sense of balance
  • Follow the proper OSHA regulations

Responsibilities

  • Grading and inspecting in-bound loads of material; to include making deductions in loads that have excess such as dirt, trash, and/or plastic
  • Identify and sort various metals
  • Keeping records of incoming loads, specific materials, customers' specific materials
  • Looking for and eliminating hazards from in-coming loads prior to processing, including chemicals, flammable material and explosive items
  • Sort, transport, pack, remove, and dispose of materials as regulated by law
  • Assist in performing inventory on materials
