Responsibilities- Receive scheduled shipments, review documentation, and process receipts using the Logistics Management Program (LMP).
- Operate forklifts capable of lifting 15,000 pounds to move, load, unload, transfer, and stack palletized goods, boxes, crates, merchandise, and materials.
- Operate a floor-controlled electric bridge crane with a capacity of ten tons to unload items from vehicles.
- Ensure proper placement and attachment of weight handling gear such as cables, ropes, and slings when loading and unloading large equipment.
- Inspect ropes, cables, and equipment for wear or damage and replace as needed.
- Operate electric, diesel, or gasoline-powered forklifts to load, unload, and move materials, working indoors or outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Move oversized materials through narrow aisles and operate warehouse tractors with dollies for special handling.
- Operate forklifts with capacities from 2,000 to 6,000 pounds, ensuring safe handling and performing routine maintenance.
- Tow loaded or unloaded trailers and perform coupling/uncoupling as needed.
- Ensure load security and proper material handling to prevent accidents.
- Deliver materials and equipment according to instructions, knowing storage and work site locations.
- Perform driver’s maintenance and fill out daily equipment logs.
- Work in various environments, including warehouses, open storage, and docks, sometimes in challenging conditions.
- Verify materials against receiving documents, report discrepancies, and store or palletize materials properly.
- Inspect stored materials for deterioration or damage and prepare items for shipment.
- Use measuring devices and conversion charts for accurate handling.
- Lift and handle heavy items manually when necessary.
- Obtain HAZMAT training for transporting hazardous materials or waste.
Qualifications- Must be a US citizen.
- Able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Pass a drug test prior to employment.
- Hold a valid state DOT driver’s license for base access and vehicle operation if required.
- Proven experience with multiple types of forklifts.
- Be able to obtain a TYAD operating permit.
- Familiarity with transporting HAZMAT.
- Able to lift and move items weighing up to 45 pounds.
- Capable of operating hand and foot controls for forklifts and tractors.
- Computer literate for basic programs, research, and data entry.
- Have physical endurance to withstand vibration and physical strain.
