Job description

Primary Responsibility:

Under general supervision, the Forklift Operator Lead ensures the safe and accurate receipt, storage, and shipment of food products using equipment such as sit-down and stand-up forklifts, stand-up straddle trucks, walk-behind forklifts, pallet jacks, double pallet jacks, and radio frequency equipment. Up to 25% of the role involves assisting the Supervisor with workflow coordination, work assignment recommendations, training associates, ensuring timely completion of tasks, and maintaining safety and procedural compliance.

What You’ll Do:
  • Direct the work of others, review schedules with the supervisor, discuss daily plans and objectives, assist in training, and communicate any issues during the shift.
  • Load and unload freight safely and efficiently.
  • Transport products to storage areas with appropriate equipment.
  • Stack and store merchandise properly.
  • Pick and assemble orders for shipment.
  • Check freight for accuracy, damage, or infestation.
  • Help maintain warehouse security.
  • Promote safety in operations.
  • Participate in physical inventories as needed.
  • Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking tasks.
  • Operate equipment safely, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and RF equipment.
  • Report safety malfunctions and comply with OSHA standards.
  • Follow attendance policies, arrive on time, and meet production standards.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Charge or change forklift batteries as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including tasks outside normal responsibilities when necessary.
Experience and Education:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; three months’ related experience preferred.
  • Relevant certifications.
  • Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to work independently and on varied schedules.
  • Willingness to work overtime, evenings, or weekends.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Up to one year of warehouse experience, including scheduling trucks and assigning tasks.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems and related tools.
Physical Requirements:

Must meet physical demands such as operating forklifts, lifting up to 55 lbs., working at heights up to 30 ft., and standing for extended periods. Reasonable accommodations available for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment:

Work may involve temperature extremes, heights, and physical exertion. Accommodations can be provided as needed.
