Job summary

Roskam Foods in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Forklift Operator to join our shipping team. You will operate stand-up forklifts, move product between storage locations, and load outbound orders while ensuring accuracy.

This role requires the ability to stand for long periods, work overtime or weekends as needed, and familiarity with scanning software used to track inventory in real time; cold storage experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous warehouse or forklift experience.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• May work overtime, evenings, or weekends as directed by management.

Responsibilities

• Performs all work task safely, accurately, and efficiently.
• Ability to meet standard pallet move performance rate.
• Inspects equipment prior to use.
• Moves product to and from storage locations.
• Loads outbound orders while verifying accuracy.
• Inspects trailers prior to loading, ensures trailers are safe and food grade.
• Responsible for securing loaded trailer while waiting for pickup.
• Utilizes scanning software to systematically move product in real-time.
• Performs warehouse cleaning duties including but not limited to dusting, sweeping, floor scrubbing, etc.
• Occasionally charges or changes Hilo battery, participates in inventory counting and wraps or stacks product.
• Perform other duties as assigned, may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed.

Required and Preferred Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Previous warehouse or forklift experience
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• May work overtime, evenings, or weekends to complete work or to attend meetings, as directed and authorized by management
• Previous stand-up Hilo experience highly preferred
• Previous experience working in a cold storage environment preferred
