Job summary

Commercial Metals is seeking a forklift operator to support production in our manufacturing facilities. You will operate forklifts in compliance with safety rules, transport raw materials and finished goods, load and unload shipments, and help keep work areas clean and organized to support on-time production. High School Diploma or GED is required.

Forklift certification is preferred or obtainable on hire. You must be able to work outdoors in varying weather, lift heavy loads, and collaborate

Qualifications

  • Experience operating forklifts or similar mobile equipment in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and PPE rules.
  • Able to move, load, and stage heavy concrete products with caution.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts in compliance with company procedures and safety regulations.
  • Transport raw materials, finished products, and production supplies between manufacturing, storage, and shipping areas.
  • Load, unload, stage, and move products safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and report any malfunctions or safety concerns.
  • Support production schedules by ensuring materials and finished goods are available when needed.
  • Assist with inventory control, product staging, and yard organization.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to environmental standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do
  • Operate forklifts in compliance with company procedures and safety regulations.

  • Report equipment malfunctions, product damage, or unsafe conditions promptly.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to all safety and environmental standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You'll Need
  • Experience operating forklifts or other mobile equipment in a manufacturing, industrial, construction, or outdoor yard environment preferred.
  • Ability to safely handle, move, and stage large concrete products.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance with established procedures.
  • Ability to perform routine equipment inspections and recognize maintenance needs.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and follow work instructions, safety procedures, and shipping documents.
  • Basic communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime as needed to meet production demands.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around dust, noise, and moving equipment.
  • Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
Your Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
