Scope

The Forklift Operator is responsible for performing material handling tasks within the plant and warehouse to support machine production schedules, finished product shipping, and recycling/waste removal activities. The role includes staging, loading, and unloading finished products and raw materials, as well as stocking and maintaining warehouse inventory. The role also supports Sofidel’s Employee Personal Practice Policy.

Essential Functions

• Perform all essential duties satisfactorily.
• Support Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary, and hygienic workplace.
• Maintain forklift driving certification for various forklift types.
• Conduct regular forklift inspections and complete logs and documents.
• Charge batteries and change propane cylinders.
• Operate stretch wrap machines and understand the HU label process.
• Monitor raw materials, finished goods, and waste products at all lines.
• Deliver and remove raw materials, finished goods, and waste products safely and timely.
• Band parent roll cores and manage recycling or return trailers.
• Load and unload goods within systematic guidelines.
• Stage loads, print and apply labels, and verify loads.
• Support machine employee requests and operate balers and trash compactors.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Train new employees as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Duties

• Assist with operations to maintain workflow, notify supervision of issues, and keep the work area safe and clean.
• Participate in meetings as required.

Tools and Equipment

Use computers, software applications, and standard office equipment.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED preferred; prior experience is a plus. Basic computer skills are required.

Language and Math Skills

Ability to read and interpret safety and operational documents. Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
