Opportunity Summary

As a Forklift Driver in our busy shipping bay or WIP line, you will operate an industrial forklift to load and unload trucks, ensuring timely delivery of units to customers according to their requirements. You will also keep accurate records of shipments. Our high-volume manufacturing plant processes up to 25 trailers daily, and you will be part of this dynamic team.

You will be responsible for all activities related to the safe operation of the forklift, participating in cross-training efforts, and sharing duties with other drivers.

Position Details

• Union position. OT paid at time and ½ for hours over 40. Work schedule: Monday through Friday with mandatory OT every other Saturday. Most openings are on second shift. The plant is not climate controlled.
• Pay Rate: $20.65 with a $0.45 shift differential
• Hours: 3 PM - 11 PM and OT at 1 AM

Responsibilities

• Inspect forklift daily at the start of each shift, ensuring all safety features are operational, and complete the inspection checklist.
• Safely track and move materials throughout the facility efficiently.
• Handle materials to prevent damage during shipment and storage.
• Load and unload trucks according to standards and customer demands.
• Use an RF scanner for receipts of returns or deliveries.
• Verify counts, quantities, quality, and descriptions of products and materials received, shipped, or stored.
• Properly palletize or shrink-wrap units.
• Complete paperwork related to product and material movement accurately and timely.
• Maintain cleanliness of the warehouse and loading docks.
• Perform regular inventory and cycle counts.
• Assist other departments as needed and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Success

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Previous forklift experience in a high-volume, high-speed environment preferred.
• Forklift certification valid within the last 12 months is preferred, but training can be provided.
• Ability to learn proprietary software for the Corrugated Manufacturing systems.
• Basic reading, writing, and comprehension skills in English.
• Basic arithmetic skills dealing with decimals, fractions, ratios, etc.
• Ability to read data measurements.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with employees and customers.
• Good attendance record.
• Availability to work overtime, weekends, or other shifts.
• Physical ability to sit for long periods, stand, walk, bend, kneel, navigate stairs, and drive in reverse throughout the shift.
