Job summary

McGrath seeks a capable Yard Operative in Tulsa, OK to manage forklift operations, inventory logs, and container yard organization. You will perform light welding, electrical tasks, and basic maintenance while ensuring safety and quality on every asset. The role requires independence, physical fitness, and a valid driver’s license.

The position spans outdoor work across weather conditions, with benefits and a focus on teamwork and safety. Training is provided, but prior yard experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years experience in a construction yard work environment.
• Basic computer experience is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with preferred experience repairing containers, van trailers, and metal waste bins.
• Prior experience in yard environment, processing paperwork, keeping accurate inventory, basic carpentry and basic electrical ability, light welding experience and AC troubleshooting ability.
• Ability to work independently and safely; high-energy, results-driven with integrity.
• Must have valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Maintain forklift in and out logs and inventory reports; move inventory with forklift.
• Organize yard by container size and condition.
• Perform light welding and electrical tasks; use power washer and other tools; basic carpentry and painting skills.
• Prepare and ensure container inventory at the yard is available.
• Inspect, repair and maintain quantities of all container types.
• Perform basic AC service for office and combo units; change filters, replace thermostats, clean coils.
• Ensure proper material inventory for container repair.
• Work outdoors in variable weather; maintain independence with minimal supervision.
• Ensure assets leaving yard are prepared and quality checked.
• Follow safety guidelines; participate in safety meetings and initiatives.
• Assist with receiving or loading assets to/from third party vendors; report activities to Ops Coordinator.
• Support service calls when possible.
• Bi-yearly inventory responsibility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
