Job summary

UNFI in Los Angeles is seeking a skilled Warehouse Mechanic to repair and maintain forklifts (electric, gas and propane) and related material handling equipment. You will test trucks, schedule routine maintenance, and keep accurate service records.

The role requires 3–5 years of trade school or equivalent experience in equipment maintenance, knowledge of AC/DC controls, hydraulics, welding and power tools, and the ability to inspect and operate scissor lifts.

Qualifications

• Three to five years trade school or equivalent material handling equipment maintenance experience.
• Electrical knowledge of AC/DC controls.
• Knowledge of hydraulics.
• Knowledge of welding and power tools.
• Able to inspect, repair and operate scissor lifts.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains forklifts including electric, gas and propane powered.
• Tests forklift trucks and performs routine maintenance.
• Maintain equipment such as sit down forklifts, stand up forklifts, dock picker, pallet jacks and sanitation equipment.
• Diagnose motors, drive brakes, electronic and hydraulic systems.
• Tear down, repair and reassemble equipment.
• Keep accurate records of preventative maintenance and parts used.
• Communicate with supervisor about changes or problems with equipment.
