Job summary

GW Murphy, INC is seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to move materials safely within our warehouse and production facility in New Orleans. You will operate forklifts and heavy equipment, load and unload shipments, and maintain clean, organized work areas.

The role requires strict safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with RF scanners to track inventory and ensure accurate order fulfillment. Monday–Friday, 7 AM–4 PM, on-site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years forklift experience preferred.
• Strong safety focus and attention to detail.
• Experience with RF scanners in a warehouse environment.
• Able to work Monday–Friday 7 AM–4 PM on-site.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and cherry pickers to move materials and products.
• Load and unload shipments with proper handling.
• Perform materials handling: stacking, organizing, storing.
• Use RF scanners to track inventory and ensure order accuracy.
• Assist shipping/receiving and verify packing lists.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and report maintenance needs.
• Conduct routine forklift inspections and safety checks.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various types of forklifts and heavy equipment to facilitate the efficient movement of materials within our warehouse or production facility. This role requires a strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

• Operate forklifts, including cherry pickers and order pickers, to move materials and products throughout the facility.
• Load and unload shipments efficiently while ensuring proper handling of goods.
• Perform materials handling tasks, including stacking, organizing, and storing products in designated areas.
• Utilize RF scanners to track inventory levels and ensure accurate order fulfillment.
• Assist with shipping and receiving operations, verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against packing lists.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
• Conduct routine inspections of forklift equipment to ensure safe operation and report any maintenance needs.

Skills

• Proficient in operating forklifts and heavy equipment with a strong emphasis on safety practices. 2 years of forklift experience preferred.
• Experience with materials handling techniques, including heavy lifting and load management.
• Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse environment.
• Ability to effectively use RF scanners for inventory management.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
• Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors effectively.
