Job summary

Dallas City Hall in Dallas, TX seeks a Supervisor-Forestry to oversee a municipal forestry crew within its parks and recreation operations. The role entails supervising non-exempt staff, planning daily work, and ensuring safe, efficient tree maintenance and urban forestry services.

The ideal candidate will have five years in forest maintenance, including two years in lead roles, and ISA Arboriculture certification or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in forest maintenance operations, including two (2) years of lead work or supervisory responsibilities.
• Arboriculture certification issued by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), plus two (2) years of the required experience and one (1) year of lead work or supervisory responsibilities, will meet the education and experience requirements.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• ISA Arboriculture certification is required; may be obtained within a 6-month probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily work assignments for crewmembers or lower level crew leaders; ensures safe and efficient procedures.
• Provides supervision and technical expertise in tree maintenance and safety.
• Leads on-site job and safety training; ensures plans, materials, tools, and supplies are available.
• Documents daily operations, time sheets, and summaries for records.
• Performs or leads maintenance and minor repairs to equipment; maintains site cleanliness and safety.
• Operates City trucks to transport workers and equipment; trains staff on driving and heavy equipment safety.
