Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a Supervisor-Forestry to lead a forestry crew within the Public Works department. You will supervise daily operations, ensure safety protocols, and coordinate tree maintenance activities city-wide.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, five years in forest maintenance with two years in leadership, and ISA certification or equivalent experience. Valid driver’s license required. This role is full-time and on-site.

Qualifications

• Five years of forest maintenance operations experience, including two years in lead/supervisory roles.
• ISA Arboriculture certification preferred; may meet requirements with related experience.

Responsibilities

• Delegates and manages daily work assignments for crewmembers; ensures safety and efficiency.
• Provides supervision and technical guidance for tree maintenance and health.
• Sets work pace with crew leaders; conducts on-site safety training; ensures materials and tools are ready.
• Documents daily operations and prepares time sheets and day-end summaries.
• Performs or leads preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment; maintains site cleanliness.
• Trains employees on driving and operating heavy equipment; secures equipment properly.
• Handles citizen concerns; coordinates with partners to plant trees and other plants.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
