Job summary

Weyerhaeuser is offering summer forestry internships in the Northern Timberlands operation. The program provides exposure to forest measurements, GIS, silviculture, harvest and haul, and road development with a personal sponsor and ongoing feedback.

Locations include Bingham, Maine and Lancaster, New Hampshire. The positions are temporary, full-time with a start in May 2027 and end in August 2027, with relocation benefits for qualifying candidates.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's or postgraduate program in Forestry or related field at an accredited college or university.
• Must have completed your freshman year by May 2027 start.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, operating ATVs/4WD vehicles, and working in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with forest measurements, GIS, silviculture, harvest and haul planning.
• Work with an individualized work plan and personal sponsor.
• Receive feedback and provide input to improve the internship program.
• Potential to return to a future internship or a full-time role after graduation.

Job description

Weyerhaeuser is offering internships to students in Forestry within our Northern Timberlands operation. The summer intern program is designed to give students a valuable learning experience, including exposure to different areas of operations such as forest measurements, GIS, silviculture, harvest and haul, operational planning, and road development. You will work with an individualized work plan and a personal sponsor. You will also be given ample feedback on your performance while having the opportunity to give feedback on ways to enhance the program.

Weyerhaeuser offers interns a competitive compensation package. Available locations include: Bingham, Maine and Lancaster, New Hampshire. These positions are temporary, full-time roles with a tentative start date of early May 2027 and ending late August 2027.

Students will receive:

• An individualized work plan and clear expectations for the length of the internship
• An opportunity for exposure to a broad base of professional forestry experiences - Feedback on their performance
• A Weyerhaeuser sponsor at their location to help them integrate into the business unit as well as to acclimate to the community

Qualifications:

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Postgraduate program in Forestry or related field of study at an accredited college or university
• Must have completed your freshman year by the start of the internship (May 2027)
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Capable of meeting the demands of fieldwork, including safely lifting up to 50 lbs, operating ATVs and 4WD vehicles, and working in various weather conditions, from extreme heat to cold
• Willingness to work in remote areas and perform tasks that may require standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Strong safety values and behaviors
• A solid understanding of sound environmental practices
• Previous experience in forestry operations
• Ability to use a compass and/or GPS applications
• Experience driving a pickup on varying terrains such as steep inclines, dirt roads, wet or snow-covered roads as well as towing a trailer

Compensation:

Weyerhaeuser offers a competitive compensation package. The specific compensation will be commensurate with the experience and capabilities of the successful candidate. Weyerhaeuser offers relocation benefits for qualifying candidates.
