This internship will last approximately 12 to 15 weeks between mid/late June and mid/late September 2027. A typical work week will be at least 40 hours/week, with most of that time spent on field duties.

Qualifications
  • Working towards or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Aquatic Biology, Hydrology, Geology, Wildlife Biology, Ecology, Forestry, Environmental Science, or other related Natural Resources field, with demonstrated strong academic achievement.
  • Ability to work safely under adverse conditions, in inclement weather, and on harsh terrain.
  • Ability to carry backpacks and field gear (30-40 lbs.) and traverse safely on steep, uneven, and heavily forested terrain.
  • Enthusiastic, highly motivated, detail oriented and eager to take on responsibilities.
  • Willingness/ability to travel within western Washington & Oregon (including overnight stays)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and participate in long field days at remote locations.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to navigate safely on logging/forest roads.
  • Strong computer skills, with experience entering and managing data in spreadsheets.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without Sponsorship.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS with data management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Compensation:

The internship will be paid at an hourly rate of $22.00 to $25.00/hour (with overtime paid at time-and-a-half) and will include an allowance for the purchase of boots and other required safety gear. A one-time relocation stipend and monthly housing stipend may also be included, depending on distance from the candidate’s current residence to the workstation. The successful candidate will be enrolled in the Weyerhaeuser 401(k) plan but will not be eligible for medical/dental or other benefit.
