The North Carolina Forest Service, part of The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, seeks an Assistant District Forester to oversee forest management programs, fire prevention, GIS, and cost-share initiatives across a district.

You’ll coordinate staff, budgets, and field operations, including on-call duties during high fire danger and emergencies. Requires a forestry degree and professional experience; licensure or equivalent credentials are preferred.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in forestry from an SAF-accredited program.
• SAF accreditation or equivalent professional registration preferred.
• Experience leading forestry teams and managing projects.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee Forest Management and Water Quality programs.
• Coordinate GIS, fuel mitigation and cost-share initiatives.
• Respond to wildland fires within the Incident Command System.
• Lead personnel hiring, performance management, and district budget.
• Ensure readiness for on-call emergencies and travel as needed.
