Job summary

State of North Carolina - Agriculture & Consumer Services seeks a Forestry Supervisor I (NS) for the North Carolina Forest Service. The role directs district programs in forest management, water quality, GIS, and fire danger rating while coordinating prescribed burns and incident response.

Ideal candidates hold a SAF-accredited forestry degree or NC Forester registration with related experience and demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills in multi-agency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry from SAF-accredited institution and four years of related professional forestry experience
• Or NC Forester registration with four years of related professional forestry experience
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may apply per state guidelines

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate forest management, water quality, ranger training, GIS and cost-share programs
• Supervise and support district staff; manage staffing, performance and budget
• Oversee District’s weather stations, fire danger rating and community wildfire protection planning
• Respond to wildland fires and other all-risk incidents as part of the Incident Command System
