Job summary

Weyerhaeuser in Rainier, WA seeks an experienced Forester to oversee silvicultural activities and field operations in our North Washington Region. This full-time role requires site preparation, regeneration, and contract administration with adherence to safety and environmental standards.

You will execute forestry plans, manage budgets, and collaborate with landowners and agencies while spending at least half your time in the woods, often in challenging conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field with 5+ years of experience or 8+ years equivalent.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to follow state/federal forest rules.
• Experience in project management and contract administration.
• Willing to spend ≥50% in the field in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field sites.

Responsibilities

• Execute forestry plan per harvesting strategy and budget.
• Layout projects using aerial photos, maps, GIS, and ground intel.
• Contract administration; monitor compliance and payments.
• Develop and track budgets and silvicultural metrics.
• Forecast projects and expenditures; promote safe work practices.

DescriptionWeyerhaeuser’s North Washington Region has an opening for an operational Forester. This position is based out of our Vail office and reports to the Vail Area Manager, with additional accountabilities to the Region Forester for silvicultural activities in the area. This is a full-time position with salary level dependent on skills and experience.Key FunctionsAs an operational Forester, you will be responsible for general forestry requirements, such as site preparation (chemical/mechanical), regeneration, land exams, vegetation control (chemical/mechanical), stocking control, fire protection and contract administration. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay.
