Job summary

The Willamette Valley Region has an opening for an Operations Specialist. This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the Mid-Coast Area Manager in Dallas, OR with salary level dependent on skills and experience.

The Operations Specialist’s initial primary responsibilities will be supporting the Trucking Logistics Project (TLI). As the project progresses and the needed support declines, the role will become more operations focused.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Forestry or other relevant field; will consider strong relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience in the forestry industry.
  • People and leadership skills, including time management, effective decision making, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Conscientious and detail oriented with good observation and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Highly motivated, and a self-directed, team player with a results‑oriented mindset.
  • Ability to effectively interact with state and federal forest practice regulators.
  • Experience negotiating and administering contracts and agreements.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GIS is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for safety within the team and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety statutes, environmental requirements and stewardship goals.
  • Train employees and contractors to use new technology efficiently.
  • Build and maintain relationships to influence, collaborate and coach in the new program.
  • Serve as a change agent and educate users on program benefits.
  • Seek and provide feedback to the TLI implementation team.
  • Analyze performance data and provide feedback to operations teams.
  • Represent the region with landowners, government agencies, and community representatives.
  • Lead planning and field implementation of engineering, harvesting and silviculture activities.
  • Represent the region on project teams as needed.

Job description

The Operations Specialist’s initial primary responsibilities will be supporting the Trucking Logistics Project (TLI). The operations support will assist with the planning and management of activities associated with engineering, harvesting and silviculture throughout the region. Additionally, the position will collaborate with the regional log quality, planning, and land use program, and serve as a project lead and/or team member, when needed.

KEY FUNCTIONS
  • Strong advocate for safety within the team and throughout the operation for company and contractor activities.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal safety statutes, environmental requirements and Weyerhaeuser resource and stewardship goals.
  • Work with employees and contractors to ensure they are trained and able to use new technology efficiently.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships necessary to influence, collaborate and coach those involved in the new program and processes.
  • Serve as a change agent and educate users on advantages of the program.

  • Willing and able to work occasional weekends depending on operational timing or weather constraints.
  • Valid driver’s license is required, as work involves driving company vehicles on rough roads (25,000 miles per year).
WHAT WE OFFER
COMPENSATION

This role is eligible for our annual merit‑increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $72,742 to $130,250 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

RETIRED PERSONNEL

PAID TIME OFF OR VACATION

We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3 weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours.
