  • Responsible for silviculture and reforestation planning and contract administration.
  • Design and secure permits for harvest unit layouts in a multifaceted regulatory landscape.
  • Responsible for harvest contract administration and inspection, ensuring contract and regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible for the planning, permitting, and contract administration for road construction and maintenance.
  • Collaborate in budget development and management.
  • Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) for effective property management.
  • Operate within the Sustainable Forestry Initiative's objectives.
  • Support the District Manager with access agreements and client tours.
  • Fulfill other assignments from the District and Region Manager.

Job Location: Port Angeles, WA 98362. Salary Range: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 Salary

Join the vibrant team at American Forest Management, Inc. (AFM) as a Forester in the Olympic Peninsula area, Washington.

Reporting directly to the Chehalis District Manager, this role plays a pivotal part in comprehensive forest management, overseeing planning, permitting, timber harvest, road construction, silviculture, client reporting, and budgeting.

You will also handle additional duties assigned by the District and Region Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Work Environment

This role balances office work with remote field assignments. Fieldwork often involves solo ventures into remote forest lands accessed by private unimproved roads, necessitating off-road driving skills. Expect extended periods outdoors, including adverse weather conditions like summer heat and extreme cold. Travel in Washington may be required, potentially involving out-of-town and overnight stays (expenses covered).

Salary and Benefits
  • Expected salary range: $65,000-$80,000, commensurate with experience.
  • This is a salaried position offering the potential for overtime pay based on operational needs and additional hours worked beyond the standard work schedule.
