Job summary

The Forests Projects Coordinator position is based at the Alliance for the Bay in Lancaster, PA, with remote work permitted when possible and most work in person. The role requires residing within an hour’s drive of the Lancaster office, and may involve travel within the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

Successful applicants will work onTree planting projects, coordinate with landowners/contractors, train volunteers, and assist in grant proposals and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry, wildlife biology, natural resources management, biology, environmental science; Master’s may substitute for 1 year experience.
• 2+ years relevant professional experience.
• Experience in project coordination and administration.
• Technical knowledge of tree ecology, species identification, forest health assessment, and reforestation practices.
• Ability to work outside, in harsh conditions, long days; occasional weekend work; lift 50 pounds.
• Strong communications and time management skills; problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate field tree planting projects: landowner contact, plan writing, planting, maintenance, monitoring, and administration.
• Coordinate project implementation with contractors and assist contracting process.
• Train volunteers on sites; supervise seasonal employees and interns as delegated.
• Assist in pursuing funding via grant proposals and related program funding efforts.
• Assist with grant budgets, reporting, payments, invoices, procurement, and reimbursements.
• Participate in outreach efforts: presentations and events; work with partners.
