Job summary

Port Blakely is seeking an Operations Forest Engineer to join the U.S. Forestry Operations team.

Based in or near Longview, Kelso, or Vancouver, WA, the role supports harvest unit and road design, project engineering, and forest activities across WA and OR with travel to field sites. You will provide technical engineering support and assist Area Managers with pits, while staying adaptable and detail-focused.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in forest engineering or equivalent; 2+ years of related experience accepted.
  • Strong knowledge of forest practice standards in WA and OR.
  • Ability to assess cost benefits for forest roads and harvest systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organization, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office 365 with Power BI; familiar with GIS and GPS tools.

Responsibilities

  • Model and encourage safe work practices and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support harvest unit design and road design across WA and OR tree farms.
  • Assist with Best Management Practices and regulatory adherence.
  • Provide field support for road construction and maintenance operations.
  • Assist in develop, manage, and abate forest borrow pits and rock pits.
  • Conduct GIS editing and mapping for operational projects.
  • Support contract procurement.
  • Provide occasional silviculture field support, mainly in Oregon.
  • Maintain readiness and training for fire season participation.
  • Participate in forestry management and professional development.
