Job summary

Roseburg Forest Products is seeking an entry-level forester to learn applied forestry in a field-oriented role in North Bend, Oregon. You will perform silvicultural activities, surveys, and GIS mapping while working with Forester III or Area Operations Manager to support harvest operations.

The position emphasizes safety, independent decision-making, and teamwork, with development plans and relationships with agencies and communities as key responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with forestry field exposure.
• Ability to work in steep terrain and varying weather conditions.
• Strong map-reading and navigation skills using maps or digital tools.
• Willingness to obtain Oregon Private Pesticide Applicators license within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform silvicultural activities like tree planting, thinning, vegetation management.
• Conduct stocking surveys and develop vegetation restocking prescriptions.
• Assist with field surveys, GIS mapping, and property line surveys.
• Support harvest operations with layout and road/system considerations.
• Assist in brush control and burn permitting procedures and regulations.
