Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Forest Assistant Manager to supervise staff, support forest planning, and coordinate programs across the Loyalsock Forest District. This role combines public service, environmental protection, and operational leadership within the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

Responsibilities include guiding forestry activities, reviewing timber documents, coordinating with partners, and leading outreach and fire protection efforts.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Forester (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title) or two years as a Forest Nursery Assistant Manager, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license of the proper class for the vehicles operated.
• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Staff Oversight: Manage foresters, technicians, and other employees.
• Forest Planning: Develop and track goals for forest treatments and coordinate field activities.
• Resource Review: Prepare and assess timber sale documents and resource management records.
• Public Outreach: Support district outreach through events, presentations, and programs.
• Fire Management: Direct fire protection activities and coordinate training, reporting, and prevention.
• Program Coordination: Work with park staff, agencies, and local governments on shared forest programs.
