Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital in Holyoke, MA is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Forensic Unit on a PRN 8-hour shift. The role includes direct patient care under RN supervision, medication administration, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts LPN license current and graduate of an accredited LPN program.
• CPR/BCLS certification required.
• CPI or Handle With Care certification preferred or obtained within 30 days.
• Behavioral health, psychiatric, detox, or med/surg experience preferred.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices preferred.
• Strong communication and de-escalation skills.
• Ability to remain calm and compassionate in high-pressure situations.
• Commitment to patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient observations and safety checks
• Administer medications safely and according to protocol
• Transcribe and carry out physician orders accurately
• Document patient status, response to interventions, and progress toward goals
• Assist with psychiatric emergencies and crisis stabilization
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and care expectations
• Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring dignity, rights, and confidentiality
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning
• Support detox monitoring protocols as applicable
• Promote a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment
