Job summary

Bon Secours Health System in Virginia is seeking a Forensic Registered Nurse (RN) to provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care within the Violence Response Team, delivering safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards.

The RN collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team, collects vital signs, administers IV medications, and supports trauma-affected patients including victims and suspects while educating patients, staff, and communities on prevention and treatment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Associates degree or Bachelors degree in Nursing.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association.
• Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) credentials preferred (A) or (P), not required.
• Two years of professional RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Collect vital signs, administer IV medications, understand charting, and assess patient condition.
• Provide episodic care for populations affected by trauma, including victims, suspects, the accused, and perpetrators.
• Deliver education to patients, staff, communities, and populations in violence prevention and treatment.
• Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
• Other duties as assigned.
