STATE OF MARYLAND is seeking a full-time Toxicology Specialist to support the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, MD. The role involves testing biological specimens for toxic substances and contributing to cause-of-death determinations.

Qualified candidates hold a Master’s or PhD in Chemistry/Toxicology/Pharmacology (or a Bachelor’s with 2 years of forensic toxicology experience). This position is located at the Toxicology Lab, 900 W. Baltimore Street, Baltimore, MD 21223.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry, Toxicology, Pharmacology or another appropriate science from an accredited college or university.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Pharmacology or another appropriate science from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience in forensic toxicology.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tests for toxic substances in biological specimens submitted by medical examiners.
• Assist in determining cause and manner of death based on toxicology results.
• Document procedures and prepare results for case review.
