Job Description

The position of Forensic Scientist and Technician requires training, knowledge and experience in medical treatment, anatomy, motor vehicle operational and safety systems, measurement systems, laser scanning systems, aerial drone operation, photography, videography, data processing, analysis, and forensic reconstruction of vehicle crash events. In collecting the evidence, the expert will use specialized software and hardware specific to each vehicle. This position requires the application of methods used in forensic documentation and failure analysis. Minimum education is a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education with multiple associate’s degrees. This position requires independent operation without direct supervision, client and peer interaction, travel, and self-direction. The position will include supervision of others.

  • Assist project teams of engineers, scientists, and technicians on engineering projects.
  • Review and analysis medical records and generate informative indexes of materials.
  • Generate medical and technical exhibits.
  • Conduct unbiased field investigations and testing of incidents and/or loss events.
  • Investigate and analyze mechanical devices, products, designs, and other related items.
  • Provide technical findings, analysis, and conclusions, either verbally or in writing, in a timely fashion and in laymen’s terms.
  • Travel for client meetings, field work, marketing, and business development.
  • Maintain communication with client and project team on status and scope of assigned projects.
  • Maintain technical and professional knowledge related to the engineer’s practice area(s) through attending continuing education courses and workshops, attending industry/practice related seminars, reviewing relevant scientific and professional publications, and participating in professional organizations and societies.
  • Continuously meet or exceed assigned performance metrics and goals.

Qualifications:
Qualifications

  • Minimum education is a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education with multiple associate’s degrees.
  • ACTAR certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attitude to deliver results.
  • Mathematically and technologically inclined with the ability to adapt to new environments or scenarios quickly.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain additional licensure and certification.
  • Ability to work remotely or while travelling to different job sites. (reliable cellular service, access to high-speed data, etc.)
  • Must be able to travel to different regions in and outside of Florida. (have reliable transportation, etc.)
  • Willingness and desire to work above and beyond the minimum performance and goal requirements.

Physical and Mental Job Qualifications

  • Ability to travel as needed, depending on project assignments.
  • Ability to maneuver in and around an accident site.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to drive to site locations.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site.

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $80,000 - $105,000. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.
