Job summary

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), through the Department of Forensic Services, seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow for 2026–2027. Fellows perform court-ordered evaluations and provide mental health expertise for juveniles and adults under legal jurisdiction, under supervision of licensed forensic psychologists.

This is a full-time, 1-year fellowship with SWE hours toward licensure, with potential for a second year or permanent employment and pay increases

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited university.
  • APA-approved psychology internship completed.
  • Eligibility for licensure as a psychologist.

Responsibilities

  • Perform court-ordered evaluations for competency to stand trial and related issues.
  • Provide expert testimony as needed in State, Superior and Juvenile courts.
  • Conduct clinical and forensic assessments in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Accumulate SWE hours toward licensure through supervised work experience.
  • Travel to evaluations at various locations as required.
