Job summary
Dallas County Crime Lab seeks a highly qualified Forensic Laboratory Technical Manager to lead the design, review, and implementation of analytical methods and quality systems. The role oversees quality management activities and may supervise staff in the development and operation of laboratory services.
The candidate will drive technical strategies, ensure compliance with accreditation standards, and provide expert consultation to law enforcement and medical examiner stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications
- Education and experience equivalent to a Ph.D. in physical sciences, biology, chemistry, forensic science or in a job-related field of study.
- Advanced degree level knowledge of the principles and techniques of genetics and molecular biology.
- Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair specialized laboratory instrumentation; knowledge of safe handling procedures.
Responsibilities
- Designs, reviews, evaluates, validates, and implements new analytical methods and quality control programs.
- Maintains laboratory technical and quality procedures; monitors laboratory services for technical compliance with accreditation standards.
- Troubleshoots technical and quality performance issues related to casework and instrumentation; identifies improvements.
