Job summary

The Summer Intern – DCI Forensic Lab in Pierre is seeking a student to support cataloging evidence, chemicals, and property for storage or disposal, and to observe evidence collection and examination in multiple disciplines. You will participate in training exercises and may assist staff in evaluating case information; a successful background check and drug screening are required.

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cataloging evidence, chemicals, or other property for storage or disposal.
• Observe evidence collection and examination in firearms, biology, fingerprint, or trace analysis.
• Participate in training exercises, classes, or other laboratory projects and activities.
• Assist lab staff in evaluating case information or other data needed for strategic planning.
