Job summary

The Office of Attorney General/Division of Criminal Investigation in Pierre is offering an Intern - DCI Forensic Lab for the Summer session. The intern will assist in cataloging evidence and observing examinations across multiple lab disciplines.

Applicants must be current part-time or full-time students, with preference for juniors/seniors and SD residents. Some positions may be filled before the closing date, and a background check and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months).
• Preference may be given to juniors/seniors, SD residents, and SD institution students.

Responsibilities

• Catalog evidence, chemicals, or other property for storage or disposal.
• Observe evidence collection and examination across lab disciplines.
• Assist in training exercises and review data for strategic planning.
• Observe examiners in firearms analysis, biology, fingerprint, or trace analysis.
