Job summary

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a substance abuse or behavioral health counseling setting.
• Education may substitute for experience in combinations up to two years.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate structured psycho-educational groups for adults with acute or chronic mental illness focused on competency restoration and court-related knowledge.
• Teach participants about court procedures, legal terminology, pleas, charges, and defendants’ rights using worksheets, discussions, and role-play.
• Modify teaching approaches to accommodate different cognitive, educational and clinical needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Monitor patient progress and maintain clinical documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
