Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of full-time experience in investigative or crime scene work identifying, collecting, recording, and preserving physical evidence.
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Natural Sciences (Forensic concentration), Chemistry, Biology, or related field; advanced Crime Scene Certification may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

  • Exemplifies Bureau rules and regulations, on and off duty.
  • Conducts thorough searches of crime scenes to identify, document, collect, and preserve physical evidence.
  • Documents scenes using photography, video, or diagrams; takes detailed measurements.
  • Conducts latent fingerprint collection/processing; manages DNA and blood pattern analysis.
  • Processes evidence, maintains storage, and testifies in court as needed.
  • Maintains records and archives; may work beyond regular hours including nights and weekends.
