Job summary

The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), is recruiting a Psychologist (Clinical) to work with forensic psychiatric patients at Whiting Forensic Hospital in Middletown, CT. The psychologist will participate in multidisciplinary care, provide psychotherapy, and conduct assessments in a secure hospital setting.

Primary duties include treatment planning, individual and group therapy, and collaboration with staff across units.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology.
• Must possess and retain license to practice psychology in Connecticut.
• Eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. Code 1320a-7b(f).
• May be required to be fluent in a foreign language or proficient in American Sign Language.

Responsibilities

• Function as a key member of the treatment team planning and monitoring treatment plans and progress.
• Provide individual and group psychotherapy.
• Provide or coordinate specialized psychological assessment as needed.
• Develop and implement behavioral interventions and other specialized psychological treatment.
• Collaborate with hospital-wide staff to promote continuity of care.
