Job summary

Milhouse Forestry in Georgia seeks a Foreman to lead vegetation management crews, enforce safety standards, and coordinate with the General Foreman on project plans. Job description

The Foreman leads a vegetation management crew, operating bucket trucks or other machines, training trimmers and groundsmen, enforcing safety and operational practices, and maintaining attendance and safety records. The Foreman communicates with customers, property owners, and the public and reports to the General Foreman while staying compliant with safety procedures administered by the Safety Leader.

Responsibilities
  • Leads vegetation management crews.
  • Ensures utility specifications are followed.
  • Coordinate with General Foreman.
  • Pre-inspect projects and develop recommended management plans, matching labor and equipment resources to work and cost estimates.
  • Maintain accurate project circuit maps noting project status, crew locations and estimated completion dates.
  • Inspect crews, start/stop times and identification of project shop locations.
  • Audit time sheets for accuracy.
  • Assist with customer notifications and customer complaints.
  • Preview work assignments and conduct post work critiques for each crew.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of tools and supplies to support assigned crews.
  • Coordinate activities with the General Foreperson to ensure customer requirements are achieved.
  • Perform required duties with a minimum 40‑hour work week.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Field experience as a vegetation management crew member.
  • Ability to evaluate circuit conditions and hours required to complete clearances to utility specifications.
  • Computer knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills with field and management personnel and ability to write reports.
  • Ability to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time due to the dangerous nature of the industry.
  • Ability to wear necessary PPE.
  • Safe driving of an approved company vehicle.
  • Physical ability to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.
  • Tolerance to weather conditions including rain, heat, sun, and cold.
  • Ability to traverse varied terrain.
  • Reading and comprehending written and verbal job instructions.
  • Professional handling of confrontations.
  • Willing to work long hours and overtime during emergencies, including holidays and weekends.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment.
  • Transportation to and from job location.
  • Willingness to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
  • Compliance with DOT medical certification requirements and acquisition of a valid DOT Medical Card within two weeks of start date.
  • Pass background check and Motor Vehicle Records Check (MVR).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Physical strength for twisting, lifting, and hand‐to‐eye coordination.
