Job description

If you love to travel, this is the role for you! You will travel to project sites and are paid per diem for your hotel stay and mileage. This is a great opportunity for someone with expertise in forestry. Even better if you have distribution or transmission expertise!

The Foreman works within and leads a vegetation management crew. The Foreman operates a bucket truck or other machines, leads training and development of trimmers and groundsmen, enforces safety and operational practices, and is responsible for maintaining attendance and safety records. The Foreman confers with customers, property owners and the general public and reports up to the General Foreman while staying compliant with safety procedures administered by the Safety Leader.

Responsibilities

• Leads vegetation management crews.
• Ensures utility specifications are followed.
• Coordinate with the General Foreman.
• Pre‑inspect projects and develop recommended management plans, matching labor and equipment resources to work and cost estimates.
• Maintain accurate project circuit maps noting project status, crew locations and estimated completion dates.
• Inspect crews, start/stop times and identification of project shop locations.
• Audit time sheets for accuracy.
• Assist with customer notifications and customer complaints.
• Preview work assignments and conduct post‑work critiques for each crew.
• Maintain an adequate inventory of tools and supplies to support the complement of assigned crews.
• Coordinate activities with the General Foreperson, working with the utility to ensure customer requirements are achieved.
• Minimum 40‑hour work week with overnight travel 85% of the time.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Field experience as a vegetation management crew member.
• Ability to evaluate circuit conditions and hours required to complete clearances to utility specifications.
• Computer knowledge.
• Strong communication skills with various levels of field and management personnel and ability to write reports.
• Extended attention and concentration for hazardous work environments.
• Ability to wear necessary PPE.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to safely drive an approved company vehicle.
• Ability to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.
• Ability to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold.
• Ability to traverse various terrains.
• Written and verbal comprehension of job instructions/information.
• Professional handling of confrontations.
• Willingness to work long hours and overtime during emergencies, including holidays and weekends.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment.
• Willingness to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
• Pass a background check and Motor Vehicle Records Check (MVR).
• Willingness to work overnight Monday through Thursday (up to 85% travel).

Compensation

• Competitive Base Salary
• Sign‑On & Stay Bonus Program – $500 Signing Bonus, $1,000 Stay Bonus within first 6 months, additional $1,000 Bonus at 12 months.
