Job summary

Milhouse Forestry is seeking a Foreman to lead vegetation management crews, enforce safety and procedures, and manage attendance and records. The role involves operating bucket trucks or equipment, coordinating with the General Foreman, and interfacing with customers and the public.

A $2,500 sign-on bonus accompanies a competitive base salary and opportunity to refer strong candidates from day one. Expect to lead field crews, assess project needs, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have field experience as vegetation management crew member.
  • Must be able to communicate with various levels of field and management personnel and write reports.
  • Must be able to wear necessary PPE and safely drive an approved company vehicle.
  • DOT medical certification within 2 weeks from start date.
  • Must pass background and MVR checks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead vegetation management crews.
  • Ensure utility specifications are followed.
  • Coordinate with General Foreman.
  • Pre-inspect projects and develop management plans with appropriate labor and equipment.
  • Maintain project maps, crew locations and completion estimates.
  • Inspect time sheets and project shops for accuracy.
  • Assist with customer notifications and handle complaints.
  • Review work assignments and conduct post-work critiques.
  • Maintain inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Coordinate with utility requirements to meet customer needs.
  • Minimum 40 hour work week.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job Overview

The role of Foreman works within and leads a vegetation management crew. The Foreman operates either a bucket truck or other machines, leads training and development of trimmers and grounds men. The Foreman enforces safety and operational practices. This role assumes responsibility for maintenance and accuracy of attendance and safety records. The Foreman confers with customers, property owners, and the general public. The Foreman reports up to the General Foreman and must stay compliant with safety procedure as administered by the Safety Leader.

What You Will Do
  • Leads vegetation management crews.
  • Ensures utility specifications are followed.
  • Coordinate with General Foreman.
  • Pre-inspect projects and develop recommended management plans, matching labor and equipment resources to work and cost estimates.
  • Maintain accurate project circuit maps noting project status, crew locations and estimated completion dates.
  • Inspect crews, start/stop times and identification of project shop locations.
  • Audit time sheets for accuracy.
  • Assist with customer notifications and customer complaints.
  • Preview work assignments and conduct post work critiques for each crew.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of tools and supplies to sufficiently support the compliment of assigned crews.
  • Coordinate activities with the General Foreperson working with the utility to ensure customers’ requirements are achieved.
  • This is a minimum 40 hour work week.
  • Performs other duties as required.
What We Are Looking For
  • Must have field experience as vegetation management crew member.
  • Must have the ability to evaluate circuit conditions and hours required to complete required clearances to utility specifications.
  • Must have computer knowledge.
  • Must be able to communicate with various levels of field and management personnel and write reports.
  • Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and the requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to wear necessary PPE as necessary.
  • Must be able to safely drive an approved company vehicle.
  • Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.
  • Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold.
  • Must be able to traverse various terrains.
  • Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
  • Must be able to communicate and handle confrontations professionally.
  • Must be able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work).
  • Must have knowledge of heavy equipment.
  • Must have transportation to and from the show up location.
  • Must be willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
  • Ability to meet DOT medical certification requirements and obtain a valid DOT Medical Card within 2 weeks from start date.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and Motor Vehicle Records Check (MVR).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Work demands physical energy, twisting, some lifting ability, and hand-to-eye coordination.
  • Uses machines, tools, equipment, and work aides used include chainsaws, hydraulic tools, and hand tools as required.
  • Must have transportation to and from the show up location.
