Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking an Analyst for Structured Load Analytics in Houston, TX. You will operate and improve data from load forecasting products, manage forecasts and variance analysis, and report on retail power components. You will engage with stakeholders to explain results, drivers, and settlement analyses.

The role requires a quantitative degree and at least two years in load forecasting or related pricing and accounting roles; SQL knowledge is essential for data systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Financial Engineering, or other quantitative field. Advanced degrees desired.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in load forecasting and advanced statistical methods or roles in product control, pricing, or accounting.
  • Proficiency in system architecture for customer data, risk, and forecasting systems from a retail perspective. Working knowledge of SQL Server or Oracle SQL.
  • Knowledge of regression modeling, including neural-net, simple regression, and hybrid modeling.
  • Experience with load and modeling constituents, weather influences, and transformation functions.
  • Ability to conduct statistical analyses to construct performance metrics (MAD, MAPE, etc.).
  • Programming skills including SQL, scripting and object‑oriented coding (Python, Matlab, R, SAS, VBA).
  • Understanding of disaggregated power markets, portfolio management and energy supply stack.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain and report data from load forecasting and product control systems.
  • Manage long-term forecast updates, variance analysis and reporting of retail power components.
  • Communicate results, drivers and feedback to stakeholders regarding forecast output, settlement analysis and performance analytics.
