Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Food Services Associate to join our team. This role supports meal preparation, tray assembly, dishwashing, and cashiering within a high-volume healthcare food service environment.

Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, strong teamwork, and effective communication to deliver courteous service to patients, staff, and visitors. Position is Non-Exempt with a schedule that includes holidays, weekends, and multiple shifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak & understand English at an 8th-grade level.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Serve Safe certification preferred or required by facility policy.

Responsibilities

• Follow hygiene and safety protocols (hand washing, glove usage, HACCP).
• Maintains a sanitary and safe work environment.
• Provide courteous customer service and communicate effectively.
• Prepare and deliver food trays accurately and efficiently.
• Operate dishwashing equipment and maintain cleanliness.
• Assist with food production, cafeteria service, and cashiering.
• Complete required training and adhere to departmental standards.

Schedule Details: Holidays - Every Other Holiday, Monday through Friday, Weekends (Saturday and Sunday), Weekends - Every Other Weekend

Scheduled Hours: 7Am-330pm,11-Close, 4-close

II. Position Qualifications

1. License/Certification/Education:

• * Required:
• * Ability to read, write, speak & understand English at an 8th-grade level.
• * Preferred:
• * High school graduate.
• * Serve Safe certification.

2. Experience/Skills:

• * Preferred:
• * Food service experience in a healthcare facility.
• * Good interpersonal communication skills.
• * Ability to read and comprehend patient meal ticket information.
• * Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• * Physical stamina for frequent movement and standing.
• * Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
