Job summary

The Four Queens Hotel in Las Vegas is seeking a guest-focused food and beverage server to provide prompt, courteous service in the restaurant. You will take and deliver orders, help guests with menu items, and ensure accuracy and speed.

You will maintain a clean workstation, use upselling techniques, and check back with guests to see if additional items are desired. Weekend, night, and holiday shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
• Must read, write, speak and understand English; legible handwriting.
• Two years’ food server experience preferred.
• Must be 21 years of age and able to obtain permits as required.

Responsibilities

• Greets guests and provides dining room menus.
• Takes and delivers food and beverage orders quickly and accurately.
• Learns menu items and daily specials; suggests items to guests.
• Maintains a clean, stocked workstation following safety guidelines.
• Checks back with guests to ensure satisfaction and anticipate needs.
• Assists with side duties and other tasks as assigned.

SUMMARY: Provides prompt, courteous and personalized food and beverage service to every guest who dines in restaurant. Takes and serves guests their food and beverage orders.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greets guests in a friendly and courteous manner and ensures each guest has a dining room menu.


• Ensures that orders are taken and delivered quickly, accurately and efficiently.


• Familiarizes self with all items on printed menu and obtaining knowledge of all daily special items.


• Uses good salesmanship for suggestive selling of menu items, beverages, deserts, etc.


• Maintains a clean and well-stocked workstation in accordance with established health and safety guidelines.


• Returns to each assigned table periodically to ascertain whether additional items or service is desired.


• Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists bus person in a cooperative manner to ensure efficient service to guests.


• Complete side work as directed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma. Must have legible handwriting.


• Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.


• Work may include weekends, nights, and holidays.


• Must be able to carry and balance service tray on shoulder. Ability to lift and carry large, heavy banquet and beverage trays weighing up to 30 pounds.


• Two years’ food server experience preferred.


• Must be 21 years of age and be able to obtain all local, state and federal regulatory permits as required by position.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke and high noise levels. Must work calmly and under stress when the volume of business increases. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
