Job summary

International Dairy Queen, Inc. in Bloomington, MN, seeks a Product Development professional to collaborate with the product development team and cross-functional partners to develop new products and improve offerings, evaluating the impact of changes and supporting demonstrations, analytical testing, evaluation, and troubleshooting to maintain quality and marketplace competitiveness.

This onsite role supports daily operations in the onsite product development lab and requires onsite presence

Qualifications

• An undergraduate degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience of professional product development or QA.
• Knowledge of sensory methodologies and ability to conduct sensory testing.
• Ability to assimilate large data, sort facts, and describe situations concisely.
• Working knowledge of analytical equipment and data interpretation.
• Ability to translate technical data for non-technical audiences.
• Familiar with QSR/restaurant/commercial cooking equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of GMP and HACCP principles.
• Capability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheets and OneNote.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time; onsite lab and plant work.
• Ability to work in QA/Product Development lab and factory environments.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new or alternative products, packaging or equipment, record testing data, and document results.
• Report and review project results to supervisor and internal team members.
• Assist in development of specifications for new menu items and test tolerances.
• Monitor consumer competition and marketplace trends for feedback.
• Provide corporate technical support and train internal departments on new products and procedures.
• Prepare items for review by teams and committees.
• Assist with in-house sensory evaluation panels and maintain lab facilities.
• Support FSQR by ensuring ADQ quality and food safety requirements are met.
