Job summary

The Cook County Government seeks a Manager, Food Systems and Nutrition to lead planning, implementation and evaluation of countywide food systems and nutrition initiatives, including the Good Food Purchasing Program, within the Department of Public Health.

You will supervise staff, manage grants, and drive policy and environmental changes to improve access to healthy, affordable food across suburban Cook County.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree + 5 years in public health or healthcare administration, or Master's with 2 years.
• One year advancing policy, systems, and/or environmental changes that promote health.
• One year of grant management experience.
• One year of supervisory or management experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
• NIMS IS-100, 200, 700, and 800 training within six months of employment.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Direct planning, implementation and evaluation of food systems and nutrition initiatives.
• Advance policy, systems and environmental change strategies to increase access to healthy food.
• Facilitate management systems for communication, coordination and accountability.
• Integrate CCDPH and county health efforts in a sustainable manner.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and ensure timely reporting and compliance with grants.
• Develop strategic partnerships for implementation and sustainability.
• Coordinate with Communications for media and outreach plans.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
