Job summary

The Manager, Food Systems and Nutrition at Cook County Department of Public Health provides programmatic leadership for food systems and nutrition initiatives, including the Good Food Purchasing Program. The role directs planning, implementation and evaluation, ensuring objectives are met and timely reports are produced.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years in public health or healthcare administration, or Master's with 2 years (transcripts required).
• 1 year of experience advancing policy, systems, and/or environmental changes that promote health.
• 1 year of experience with grant management.
• 1 year of supervisory or management experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Completion of NIMS IS-100, 200, 700, and 800 within six months (proof at interview).
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and insured vehicle or reliable transportation.
• Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Direct planning, implementation and evaluation of food systems and nutrition initiatives/programs.
• Advance policy, systems and environmental change strategies to increase access to healthy, affordable food.
• Facilitate management systems that promote communication, coordination, and accountability among staff and partners.
• Integrate activities into CCDPH and Cook County Department of Public Health efforts.
• Evaluate effectiveness and ensure compliance with grants and legal mandates; identify gaps and opportunities.
• Ensure benchmarks and timely reporting.
• Develop and maintain strategic partnerships for implementation and sustainability.
• Collaborate with CCDPH Communications Unit on the communications plan.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
