Job summary

ReNEW Schools in Butler, Indiana is seeking a dedicated food service assistant to support daily meal preparation and service for students and staff. You will work on a food line, handle cashiers, restock, and maintain safe, clean service areas.

The role requires using ovens, stoves, mixers, and dishwashers, adhering to food safety standards, standing for long periods, and lifting or carrying items as needed. Additional duties may be assigned by the Food Services Director.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation duties such as cutting, peeling, and bagging.
• Serve students and staff in a friendly and efficient manner on the food line; replenish food as needed and perform cashiering and stocking duties.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stove tops, mixers, choppers, slicers, and dishwashers.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary environment by washing dishes and cleaning kitchen and serving areas; manage garbage collection area.
• Adhere to food safety standards, including proper storage and handling of food to prevent contamination.
• Stand for extended periods and be able to lift and carry items as required.
• Other duties as assigned by the Food Services Director or Kitchen Manager.

• Operates and/or utilizes various pieces of kitchen equipment such as ovens, stove tops, mixers, choppers, slicers, and dishwashers
• Maintains a clean and sanitary environment at all times by washing dishes, cleaning kitchen work and serving areas, and maintaining a garbage collection area while always adhering to food safety and sanitation standards
• Adheres to food safety standards, including proper storage and handling of food, to make sure that food is free of contaminants and pathogens that might cause illness
• Stamina to stand for extended periods of time as well as lifting and carrying
• Other duties as assigned by Food Services Director or Kitchen Manager
